三岸好太郎を伝える美術館
札幌出身の三岸好太郎は1903年に生まれ、1934年に31歳で亡くなった。美術館はその画業を伝えるため、作品と関係資料の収集・保存、展示、調査研究を行っている。一人の作家に焦点を絞ることで、若い時期から晩年までの表現の変化を連続して考えられる。

画風の変化をたどる
作品には人物像や道化、蝶、貝殻などが登場し、晩年にはシュルレアリスムに接近した表現も見られる。1967年の遺族による作品寄贈が美術館設立の契機となった。鑑賞では画題だけでなく、輪郭や背景の扱いがどう変わるかを比較すると、短い生涯の中で試みられた多様な表現を捉えやすい。
